1-Optimize for your audience

It’s a given, if you want your website to reach a good audience, optimize it to rank better on Google. Be aware to always follow the most recent SEO guidelines to appear better in search.

2-Guarantee an easy navigation

A proper navigation is key to guarantee that users will find their needs on your website easily. To ensure the easy-to-use navigation, so make sure you keep essential navigation options at the top of the page with clear labels and familiar words. Make sure visitors are getting to their destination easily, bearing in mind the three click rule stating that they shouldn’t need more than three click to reach their goal.

3-Arrange your colors

Assure that the colors you are using reflect your brand and play an engine role in enhancing your content. Choose colors that are pleasing for viewers and steer away from random colors that do not fit your brand’s color palette.

4-Create easily scan able pages

An easy to scan page is more appealing to readers. We tend to have fewer focus span online, therefore stacked wall texts can be boring and less appealing. Therefore, make sure to use bullets and headers in your text.

5-Use attractive visuals

Most of internet users are visual thinkers, they can read but images play a more efficient role in their experience. Make sure your page has enough images to balance the reader’s flow, however use high resolution images avoiding pixelated ones.

The don’ts

1-Don’t use too many fonts

Using too many fonts can make a website’s design look chaotic and unprofessional. Several fonts tend to conflict together and disturb the user’s experience. For that reason, the ideal is to use a maximum of three fonts.

2-Don’t miss out on optimization

More than 50% of today’s internet users are using their mobiles for browsing and they are expecting great opportunity results. It is therefore essential to optimize your website and make it as mobile friendly as possible.

3-Don’t skip proofing

Making sure your website is mistakes proof is a must. Check for typos in your content, audit your links for any deadlinks – a 404 Error page would shake a user’s trust in the website -, and include proper media.

4-Don’t miss out on proper scrolling

Some designers tend to hijack scrolling, which means manipulate the scrollbar to behave differently on the website. While other designers include horizontal scrolling; that leads to fewer interactions and negative responses from users end.

5-Don’t use flickering messages

The use of flickering effects for ads and animations has an impact on users. If a user is susceptible, these message can trigger seizures, whereas they are visually annoying to ordinary users.
